“Of all my students, Magda plays in the most beautiful way…” – that is how Tadeusz Wroński, a longtime professor of the Academy of Music in Warsaw, one of the greatest and most versatile Polish teachers of the art of violin playing, used to say about Magdalena Rezler-Niesiołowska. The artist proved that opinion was justified by winning a number of such reputable international violin competitions as Queen Elisabeth of Belgium in Brussels, Jacque Thibaud in Paris, or Karl Flesch in London. She also won medals at the Biennale in Bordeaux and, together with her string quartet, in Budapest.

Born in Bydgoszcz, in a known family of musicians, she graduated from the Academy with honors, being a student of Professor Wroński and of closely cooperating with him Stanisław Kawalla. As a soloist, she takes part in symphony and chamber concerts and performs recitals in almost all European countries, but also in the USA, Mongolia, and South Korea. Her performance was often recorded for the radio and television in Poland, Czechoslovakia, East Germany, West Germany, Belgium, and France. Her repertoire includes over 30 concertos with an orchestra and 20 recitals. She was a concertmistress of the “National Philharmonic Chamber Musicians” orchestra of Karol Teutsch, performing many solo concertos with it; currently, she also takes part in chamber concertos in Germany and Switzerland, cooperating with excellent instrumentalists, such as “Freiburger Barock Solisten.”

Magdalena Rezler-Niesiołowska, following the steps of her professors, is an excellent educator – for many years she led a violin class in her home Warsaw Fryderyk Chopin University of Music, and since 1991 she has been a professor at the renowned Hochschule für Musik in Freiburg (Germany). Her graduates are members of symphony orchestras in Berlin, Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Bremen, Hamburg, Detmold, Freiburg, Warsaw, Budapest, Zurich, Istanbul, Seoul, Tokyo, and of the International Mahler Orchestra. She conducts master courses in Germany, Poland, South Korea, Japan, Austria, and the USA. She is a jury member of violin competitions in Poland and abroad.

Pianist Kay Kyung Eun Kim, prize-winner of the 6th Mozart International Piano Competition, has been praised as a “chic, stylish and modern pianist” by the International Piano Magazine, while The Piano Magazine described her as a “warm and sensitive, dynamic and fearless pianist.”

At the age of six, Kay and her family moved to London. Two years after moving, Kay was one of only five students selected by the Yehudi Menuhin School to study with Nicolai Demidenko. She continued her studies at The Purcell School under the tutelage of Irina Zaritskaya. During her time living in London, Kay spent time with Vlado Perlemuter each summer, who was the last living pupil of Ravel at the time. It was this relationship that enamored her with Ravel’s works, eventually leading Kay to begin a six-year project entitled “Ravel Complete Piano Works” in 2016. In this series, Kay performed all of Ravel’s solo and duo piano works as well as Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G Major. The project culminated with Kay’s CD, “Ravel”, released with Sony Classical in June 2021. On this CD, Kay performs her favorite works by Ravel: Jeux d’eau, Miroirs, and Gaspard de la nuit.

At 16, Kay was one of the youngest applicants admitted to The Juilliard School, where, as a student of both Jerome Lowenthal and Seymour Lipkin, she earned her Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees. In 2004, Kay pursued both her Professional Studies and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees under Solomon Mikowsky at The Manhattan School of Music. Kay’s DMA dissertation was on Unsuk Chin’s Piano Concerto.

Kay made her debut at age 6 with the Korean Symphony Orchestra. Since then, she has performed with a multitude of distinguished orchestras, including the Seoul National Symphony and the Youth Orchestra, the State Academic Symphony and the St. Petersburg Orchestra, the Hong Kong Philharmonic, the Hradec Kralove Philharmonic, and the Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra, the Orquestra do Norte, the Kammer Philharmonie Dacapo Orchestra, the Orquesta Sinfonica de la Region de Murcia, and the Topeka Symphony and the Albany Symphony Orchestra in the US.

Recital venues at which Kay has performed include the South Bank Centre and Buckingham Palace, Weill Hall at Carnegie Hall, the Seoul Arts Center, and Kumho Hall as a part of their “Rising Stars” series. In 1997, Kay gave a charity concert in London to raise support for young victims of the Chernobyl disaster. Her performance was broadcast on Classical FM radio.

Since returning to Seoul in 2010, Kay has dedicated her time to both teaching at the Catholic University of Korea as well as continuing her passion for contemporary works through her performances. Kay has given many Korean premieres of contemporary works. Her recitals included “Afternoon in Paris”, “Sonata Journey”, “Musical Portraits”, and “Fantasy and Reality” at the Seoul Arts Center, which showcased innovative piano techniques.

Oder Art
Orchestra

“... Openness to forms of artistic cooperation and multidimensionality of the concerts presented ...”

The Oder Art Orchestra is a chamber ensemble selected from the Szczecin Philharmonic Symphony, whose traditions date back to 1946, when the City Symphony Orchestra was founded in Szczecin city after World War II.

Already in the first years of the philharmonic's existence, a chamber ensemble was formed, which was active for several dozen years, mainly performing in the region of West Pomerania. A few years ago, on the initiative of young Szczecin artists, a new formation, referring to the former chamber ensemble, was formed, initially under the name Szczecin Camerata, and now the Oder Art Orchestra. This initiative, which is currently unique on a national scale, quickly gained sympathy from the public and the orchestra received favorable reviews from critics.

The ensemble consists of the best young instrumentalists of the Szczecin Philharmonic, as well as selected high class engaged artists from other orchestras, participating in larger scale projects.

Beside of regular work on the world chamber repertoire, the musicians are eager to take part in innovative and extraordinary projects. They work with renowned composers and artists. The orchestra's musicians – thanks to their passion and commitment – form part of artists. The orchestra's musicians – thanks to their passion and commitment – form part of the most prestigious, as well as unique and modern cultural offer for the audience on the highest artistic level.

The current shape of the Oder Art Orchestra was formed by the leaders of the ExQuartet, which supports the new brand of the Polish chamber orchestra with great momentum. ExQuartet String Quartet is after very successful CD recordings, which were noticed and highly appreciated by critics and listeners.

In addition to concerts in Poland, the orchestra has plans for foreign concert tours (i.e. to Germany, and South Korea), to record a CD with world famous flutist – Rita D’Arcangelo – for the international label – Da Vinci Classics, as well as to cooperate with international bands and musicians of various styles (jazz, pop, folk, street performance).

The versatility of the ensemble’s musicians allows the orchestra to build interesting, unconventional and diverse repertoire, from Baroque to Modern including premiere performances.
